Etagere (Primary Title)
"Dragonfly" Etagere (Alternate Title)
Émile Gallé, French, 1846 - 1904 (Artist)
A botanist by training, Émile Gallé used nature as a design source for his furniture and glass. His furniture is carved and decorated with a variety of plants and insects in a highly realistic manner, as seen in this etagere. The decoration includes a carved dragonfly, a favorite motif in French Art Nouveau.
