The highest paid American poster designer of the late-19th, William H. Bradley’s popular designs were largely based on Japanese woodblock printmaking and design principles of the British Arts and Crafts movement. Characteristic of Bradley’s designs, this poster’s long, vertical orientation is adorned with a decorative border of foliage surrounding a central figure. Founded in 1865, the Whiting Paper Company produced high-quality writing paper for books and stationery, which this poster advertises.
