In addition to locally produced fabrics, the Mughals collected rare woven cloths from Iran, Turkey, Europe, and the Far East. The eclectic design of this floral silk brocade makes it hard to tell exactly where it was made. The arrangement of swaying flowers in regimented rows on a plain ground resembles many mid-17th-century Mughal court textiles. On the other hand, the abstract rhythm of the repeating pattern and the use of composite flowers recall Persian and Turkish textiles of the same period.
