Working at night with just the available light, Sheridan transforms everyday objects and settings into mysterious visions. Sheridan often photographs at empty construction sites, loading docks, parking lots, and railroad tracks—familiar but marginalspaces around Richmond and Charlottesville. While unpeopled, his images record traces of human activity. With a large-format camera, color negative film, and extended exposures of thirty minutes to an hour, he fixes and magnifies these traces, imbuing them with cinematic resonance.
