Wu Gorge on the Yangzi River (Translation)
長江巫峽圖 近現代 張凭 紙本設色 (Primary Title)
Zhang Ping 張凭, Chinese, born 1934 (Artist)
Wu Gorge is an area on the Yangtze River that stretches twenty-eight miles. After a journey along the river, Zhang Ping painted this depiction of a beautiful old town and grand mountains on the riverbank. The scene predates the construction of the Three-Gorge Dam and captures humanity and nature living in harmony. Using ink washes and contrast of light and shadow, the artist created a real sense of perspective and revealed the tranquility of the river and its surrounding cliffs.
