Designed for everyday use, this vessel was hammered from a single piece of bronze to which a cast rim, handles, and foot were added; traces of gilding are still visible. Hydriai were common vessels in antiquity; this 4th century example is taller and slimmer than earlier versions. The inscription of punched dots on the rim indicates that this vessel was reused as a funerary urn.
