Red-figured Oinochoe (Wine Vessel) (Primary Title)

attributed to, Painter of the Edinburgh Oinochoe (Artist)

ca. 430 BC
Greek (Attic)
Overall: 8 1/8 × 3 1/8 in. (20.64 × 7.94 cm)

These wine pitchers (62.9.1-2) were probably made as a pair and have been attributed to an artist who specialized in painting such vessels. Each oinochoe shows a pair of women with objects (ribbons on both vases and an alabastron perfume bottle on one) that suggest the scenes are of servants with their mistresses.
