Gaeseong, located in North Korea, fifty miles from the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), once served as the capital of the Goryeo dynasty (935–1392). The city consists of historic monuments and landmarks such as the city gate, the Sungyang Academy, and royal tombs. It was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013. In this print, the artist chose to depict a river running alongside a road, where a woman can be seen carrying a baby on her back while balancing goods on her head.
