The scene on this box reproduces Victor Vasnetsov’s celebrated painting Ivan Tsarevich Riding the Gray Wolf, 1889. This tale inspired composer Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird, the ground-breaking ballet from the 1910 season of the Ballets Russes.
